It’s that time of the month again when we look ahead to the next month for game releases. October looks to be packed tight with both indie games as well as AAA games from larger studios. I know you’re not reading this for fun commentary, but for the game releases, so let’s get right into it. Here are October’s most anticipated (and maybe lesser known) video game releases for 2025.
Ghost of Yotei – October 2nd
The highly anticipated “sequel” (used loosely, as new characters, new setting, and new story is involved) to Ghost of Tsushima, the Ghost of Yotei will Atsu, a lone mercenary who has no place in society. The game will be taking place 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. Atsu, a female, was also a bold choice made by the developers, who want to explore a revenge dynamic from a female perspective, as well as the Japanese myth of the Onryo. Ghost of Yotei has a large following already and those looking to purchase it can find it on shelves in early October.
King Of Meat – October 7th
In King of Meat, players will compete against one another in a reality show themed dungeon hack-and-slash. The game contains a good mixture of combat, puzzles, and obstacles for players to face. What’s a game without cosmetic customization? Players will be able to earn gold to upgrade weapons and unlock a whole closet of new cosmetics, granting them new abilities. This game looks to play very similarly to Human Fall Flat, Gang Beasts, and Fall Guys. All I can say is it will make for great TV.
Battlefield 6 – October 10th
For those who played the open beta of Battlefield 6, many people may have made up their minds based on what they saw. While Battlefield 2042 saw a lot of criticism, Battlefield 6 hopes to capitalize on aspects of success from previous games. EA has made it a priority to revive the class-based gameplay from previous games, while improving movement and gameplay. Not only will the game feel different through gameplay, it will also look better. There is an emphasis on graphical improvements and performance enhancements to Battlefield 6, making it a must-buy for fans of shooters.

Little Nightmares 3 – October 10th
If you’re not a fan of traditional shooters, maybe Little Nightmares 3 is the release for you. Set in a world of scary adults, the player (playing as children), must navigate a world in which sin consumes the adults surrounding them. The game itself relates to childhood trauma and fear, maybe striking too close to home for some. Little Nightmares 3 will continue the strong messaging and narratives posed in the first two games. The game will also introduce a new, online co-op mode, or for those loners, an AI companion for solo mode.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – October 16th
Pokémon audiences have already had this day booked on their calendar for months now. It has been almost three years since the release of Scarlet and Violet, and many fans have been itching for something new. Finally, Pokémon will release a new game: Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This game will take a fork in the road of traditional turn-based Pokémon battles. Instead, Legends Z-A will introduce a real-time combat system, similar to that of Pirate101. Taking place in Lumiose City, this game is sure to light up sales.

Keeper – October 17th
From the studio that brought us Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, and Day of the Tentacle comes Keeper. The game is told through an abandoned lighthouse, jolted awake by an unknown spirit. It is, of course, accompanied by a bird, and together, a wordless tale of companionship takes place. For those seeking beautiful scenery paired with brilliant storytelling, look no further than the flashing beacon at the top of Keeper’s lighthouse.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – October 21st
Have you ever really wanted to be something you aren’t? Perhaps, let’s say, a vampire? Well, thanks to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, you might be able to live out your fantasy. Bloodlines 2 will reward different play styles; stealth, melee, and distance attacking. Every decision that you make will affect the balance of power, as well as the people around you and the larger city itself. The first game was a cult classic, releasing over 20 years ago. Is the fan base ready to return from the shadows for Bloodlines 2?
The Outer Worlds 2 – October 29th
“It can’t have been six years since Outer Worlds, right? Right?” I say as they drag me back into the psych ward. Outer Worlds is finally back and promises a handful of new mechanics to keep players interested. There will be an upgraded RPG system, new solar system to explore, and lots of new weapons. Along with all of this will be new traversal methods like sliding and parkouring. It might be time to return to the solar system and check out what’s new for yourself. [Persuade] I’m sure it’s going to be great.
ARC Raiders – October 30th
While there’s a trend of four person co-op loot and extract type of games swarming around the gaming world recently, ARC Raiders hopes to change the vibe around looters. Playing in third person, you’ll head up to the surface in a distant future Earth, guarded by ARC robots. You’ll collect resources and loot, fighting through robots and other players alike, and head back down to the safe underground. Once the loot is sold, you can upgrade your gear and get ready for the next raid. Are you up to the challenge?
Smasher – October 2025
The only VR game to crack this list is Smasher. With similar mechanics to Pistol Whip, Gun Jam, and Audica, Smasher will provide both a visual and auditorial experience for players. Not only will you be dealing with low-tiered enemies, but also bosses, as well as controlling a handful of other things. But don’t worry, you can always replay the levels as much as you want. Go and smash it!
