I’m going through another moral dilemma this morning. I’ve been warned about posting my work online and now I’ve developed a fear that if I post it (to say, this website), it can and will be stolen. So until I can 100% figure out how to watermark my writing and make it steal-proof, I will halt on posting poems or fiction. I may continue with sports writing, however.
This moral dilemma stretches much further than just a single paragraph. One of the best ways to really get your name out in the writing world is by submitting to journals and literary magazines. The majority (probably close to 95%, as an estimate) do not take previously posted/published work. This includes work posted on this website.
Eventually, I would also like to make a collection of short stories as well. If I post all of my short stories, not only do I risk the chance of them being stolen, but I also risk not being able to publish them ever again in any format.
With all of this being said, I will probably still post poetry that I’m proud of but has received rejections. Actually, while writing this, I think I just convinced myself into doing just that. Expect a new poem for today in the “Portfolio” section of my website.
For today’s cover photo, I had a lot of good options. I was in Howth, Dublin two years ago. But ultimately, there’s going to be a lot of photos from that beautiful country in the next few months. So instead, I went with a photo from when I created a short horror film.
